DGSHAPE Dental Mill Wins Prestigious 2017 JDT Magazine WOW Award

Hamamatsu, Japan, December 11, 2017 – The DWX-52DC dry dental mill from DGSHAPE recently received a coveted 2017 WOW! Award from the Journal of Dental Technology (JDT). JDT asked members of the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) to nominate standout dental products or services that “save time, money and improve the quality of their work” for award consideration. While a large number of products were nominated in this year’s competition, only five – including the DWX-52DC – were selected by the JDT judging panel as 2017 WOW! Award winners.

Introduced in March 2017, the DWX-52DC Dental Mill with Disc Changer is the newest addition to the popular DWX series of 5-Axis Dental Milling Machines. A combination of automated functions is designed to help reduce manual work for the production of dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, copings, and abutments. The DWX-52DC comes equipped with an Automatic Disc Changer (ADC) capable of storing up to six discs for continuous milling of a variety of dental restoration shades. An Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) automatically replaces milling burs for efficient milling of a wide range of materials, including zirconia, wax, PMMA, hybrid resins, PEEK, gypsum, CoCr sinter metal and fiber-reinforced resin. The DWX-52DC’s open architecture means it can be used with the CAD/CAM software that dental technicians are already familiar with in order to cut learning time and create the optimum workflow for the production environment.

According to Kohei Tanabe, President of DGSHAPE Corporation, “We are very proud of this accomplishment. The DWX-52DC is the latest in a long line of DGSHAPE products that satisfy our customers’ demands for an easy-to-use plug and play device that can be operational out of the box within minutes.”

DGSHAPE Corporation was spun-off of Roland DG Corporation in April, 2017. DGSHAPE was formed to develop and market the company’s 3D products, including DWX mills and DWP 3D printer for the dental industry, MPX impact marking device for the healthcare industry, EGX engravers for industrial labeling and personalization industries and MDX and monoFab series of desktop milling machines for rapid prototyping, manufacturing and hobby industries. “The mission of DGSHAPE,” Tanabe said, “is to harness the 3D digital fabrication technologies and expertise that Roland DG has developed over more than three decades as well as its proprietary digital cell production system and global customer service and support system in order to provide advanced digital solutions to shape the future.”
