Zooma Signs achieves knockout results with their two new TrueVIS XP-640s
Zooma Signs | Australia
Zooma Signs has operated in Warwick, Queensland for more than 60 years, evolving through two periods of family ownership and two name changes during that time, making it one of the most experienced signwriting businesses in the Southern Downs. The business is now owned and managed by Carey and Nicole Burt who started working for Zooma Signs in 2011. They’ve proudly grown the operation from 3 staff to 7, from a 600sqm shed to a 3,000sqm premises in the decade since taking over in 2016.
When Carey and Nicole became owners, Zooma Signs was operating two Roland DG XC-540 printer cutters, which they quickly upgraded to the next generation XR-640. Carey described these XR-640s as “workhorses” that fuelled the business’s growth. Fast forward to 2025 when Zooma once again made a technological leap, upgrading to Roland DG’s latest technology - two TrueVIS XP-640s - offering faster print speeds, quicker drying times, and more accurate colour output.
The print quality and reliability of the XP's has been great so far and the feedback from customers has been instant, in terms of noticing the quality improvement.
Before
- Identified a bottleneck in production due to outgassing times and print speeds.
- Found it difficult to accurately reproduce certain brand colours.
After
- Upgraded to 2 XP-640s; one setup in 8 colour configuration one in dual CMYK.
- Doubled their production output through faster print speeds and drying time.
- Producing more accurate colour output through the significantly-expanded colour gamut.

Offering the full range of signage services from stickers and corflutes to shopfronts and architectural signs through to commercial wraps and vehicle signage, encompassing every stage of production, it’s vitally important to Zooma Signs that their equipment can meet production demands.

Reliability is essential for growth
Carey says “The printers run all day, every day, so the robustness of the XP platform was key in our decision to buy.”
Carey is confident their new TrueVIS XP-640’s will fuel their business growth into the future remarking “the XP-640’s will allow us to approach corporate work with more confidence in colour-matching as well as keeping up with short turnaround demand.”The XP-640’s will allow us to approach corporate work with more confidence in colour-matching as well as keeping up with short turnaround demand.
Stick with what you know
Carey and Nicole bring years of experience with Roland DG machines. Given this long-standing familiarity, when it came time to upgrade their existing XR-640 printer cutters, Carey explains, “we didn't look at competitive products as we had been using Roland equipment since 2011 in our business, and previously in other roles going back to 2006.”
Their commitment to finding the right solution was evident when they attended the Tokyo Sign Expo in September 2024 to see the XP-640 in action on the Roland DG stand - before it was even released in Australia. “Then,” Carey recalls, “we just had to wait.” This level of dedication and attention to detail is a hallmark of Zooma Signs. We didn't look at competitive products as we had been using Roland equipment since 2011 in our business, and previously in other roles going back to 2006.
Roland DG delivers against its brand promises
We’re pleased to report, Carey and Nicole’s patience has been rewarded and when asked about the quality, reliability and ease-of-use of their new Roland DG printers, Carey is quick with his response saying, “the print quality and reliability of the XP's has been great so far and the feedback from customers has been instant, in terms of noticing the quality improvement.”
