Roland DG XR-640 Gives TAFE Illawarra Signage Students Unique and Valuable Hands-On Experience

TAFE Illawarra   |   Wollongong NSW

In 2016, the Signage Department at TAFE Illawarra took delivery of a Roland DG SOLJET PRO4 XR-640 Wide Format Printer Cutter, donated by Roland DG to add to their existing VersaCAMM VS-640 Printer Cutter that was donated previously. The printers are used to provide the Signs and Graphics students with some hands-on experience, before they head out to work in the industry.

Teacher Danielle Corti, head of the Signs and Graphics Team at TAFE NSW, believes having the Roland DG printers onsite gives TAFE Illawarra the opportunity to teach the students on current technology that is easy for them to use and learn. “Roland DG’s printers are user friendly, making them perfect for students to… develop their skills and knowledge with.” Offering hands-on experience with the printers helps students “continue to enhance those skill sets over their course,” said Danielle.

In the Signs and Graphics course, students use the printers to produce a range of applications, including vehicle graphics, banners and posters. Danielle has “seen significant growth in the past 12 months” for enrolments. She believes that this is primarily due to “boosting exposure and engagement within the industry” by promoting the unique course offering.

When it comes to service and support from Roland DG, Danielle has found this to be “efficient and supportive” and that the Roland DG Service Technicians have “always been proficient and knowledgeable.”

"[Roland DG] are a reliable product and company. Easy to use. Friendly service and team. Quality products produced."

When asked if she would recommend Roland DG, Danielle comments: “Yes, they are a reliable product and company. Easy to use. Friendly service and team. Quality products produced.”
