Long Term Customers

Roland DG Australia has been serving customers across the country for 30 years. Here we've included the stories of some long-term customers who have supported us through this journey.

Wiseman Signs

A family-owned business that has been in operation for over half a century, Wiseman Signs (Western Australia) was established in 1965 in country WA. Specialising in numerous types of signage including shop front and vehicle signage, the company always strives to deliver the best possible customer service; and still meets the same customer needs that it did over 50 years ago.

Wiseman Signs has evolved from traditional signwriting methods using hand lettering, gold leaf and original font designs to embracing digital technology in the form of Roland wide format printer cutters. In 1992, Stephen Wiseman, owner of Wiseman Signs, purchased the company’s first computer sign system, a Roland PNC 1100 plotter. Stephen quickly realised the benefits of adding this new piece of equipment: “From a signwriting perspective, being able to marry this technology with traditional signwriting methods was wonderful and the benefit to our business was immediate”. 26 years later, the exact same Roland plotter is still in use. “In real terms, it has worked well over 8000 days and done hundreds of kilometres of cutting.” Stephen said. “This machine is still capable of cutting 6mm lettering, has never had the roller wheels replaced and still sings the PNC 1100 tune.”

Currently, Wiseman Signs continues to use the original plotter alongside a Roland SC-540 wide format printer cutter and an XR-640 wide format printer cutter. Stephen has continued to purchase Roland machines due to their reliability and the level of service and support his company continues to receive. As a country sign shop, it is vital that the business continues to run, with little or no down time: “Equipment reliability is paramount for a country sign shop. Roland equipment has never let us down and access to qualified service technicians keeps everything running.”

Stephen would not hesitate to recommend Roland products to others. “Our business runs on reliability and quality, Roland offers reliability and quality.”

Best Digital Signs

From starting out as a small signage business in Victoria in 1991, Best Digital Signs Pty Ltd has grown over the years, to now completing commercial signage for major building projects across Australia, including the Eastland Shopping Centre Redevelopment and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre Redevelopment.

Throughout the years of expansion, one thing has remained constant at Best Digital Signs: the use of Roland equipment. The company started out with a PC-60 and computer cutters in the early 1990’s, and then when digital printing became more widespread later that decade, they acquired their first large format printer, an SC-500. They have continued to upgrade their Roland printers over the years, to an SC-540EX, SJ-1045, XC-540 and most recently, they purchased an XR-640 wide format printer.

Owner of Best Digital Signs, Mark Piper, explains why they have stayed with Roland for so long: “We have always been willing to update our equipment so that we can offer the highest quality prints to our clients. We are known for our high resolution printing and colour matching… we’ve never been required to use the fastest print settings on our Roland printers. I think this speaks volumes to our quality control but also the speed and clarity of the Roland printers.”

The service and support that the company has received from Roland, according to Mark, has been “painless” and “has ensured that the machines are always functioning at their peak”. They have had trouble finding “anything that compares that also has the longevity and the flexibility of Roland’s large format digital machines.”

Mark has always been quick to recommend Roland over the years: “We have recommended Roland’s printers to many people and will continue to. They have never let us down.”
