As the world’s first inkjet printer/cutter developed exclusively for DPI award-winning Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink, the XC-540MT features six colors, CMYK+Metallic Silver+White (CMYK+Mt+W). Compatible with vinyl, PET film, canvas, paper, transparent film and banner substrates, the new metallic silver ink can be printed as a spot color or combined with the XC-540MT’s CMYK inks to produce a range of colored metallic effects including gold, silver, bronze and other pearlescent colors.
With the XC-540MT, professionals can produce signs, banners, labels, POP displays, vehicle graphics and all types of wraps, taking advantage of a whole new metallic color palette. A double white ink model (CMYK+WW) is also available for the brightest white text, graphics and floods.

In the past, gold and silver effects could only be produced using more complex printing systems such as offset and flexo presses, screen printing equipment or by foil stamping. Each of these technologies requires plate processing, making it difficult and costly to produce metallic graphics in small quantities. The revolutionary new XC-540MT has transformed this process. For the first time, professionals can take full advantage of Roland’s advanced inkjet technology to produce brilliant metallic graphics on demand – easily, profitably, and in any quantity.
With Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink, thousands of new metallic colors are available. Metallic graphics command premium pricing and add sophistication to any graphic or marketing message. Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink has been recognized as a DPI Product of the Year, an accolade that reflects its exceptional image quality.
To prevent the pigments in metallic silver and white inks from settling, the XC-540MT comes with Roland’s unique, patent-pending automated ink circulation system. The system automatically reduces waste of white and metallic silver ink by up to 84% for dramatically lower running costs. The system ensures exceptional image quality throughout the longest production runs.
The XC-540MT streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics. By eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, the XC-540MT integrated printer/cutter saves valuable time and effort.

For laminating graphics, simply remove prints, laminate and reload them for precision cutting. The Quadralign four-point optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. The XC-540MT also functions as stand-alone vinyl cutter.
ECO-SOL MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology, offering fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square foot, and broad uncoated media support. In addition, ECO-SOL MAX is virtually odorless.
For the standard XC-540MT configuration, ECO-SOL MAX comes in CMYK+Mt+W ink sets (220ml cartridges). A double white model is also available (CMYK+WW). ECO-SOL MAX graphics are water and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors* for CMYK graphics, up to 1 year outdoors for White ink and 1-3 years outdoors for Metallic Silver ink.
* Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.
A true production printer, the XC-540MT features an upgraded media feed and take-up system accommodating rolls of up to 66 lbs. for long, unattended printing. Seven permanent repositionable pinch rollers enhance image quality through even the longest print runs. In addition, the XC-540MT features media guides, a vacuum platen and twin head heights to ensure correct media feed for thin or lighter media.

The XC-540MT’s integrated tri-heater system dries prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. The system features three components: a pre-heater that improves media receptiveness, a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. All can be controlled from either the printer panel or Roland VersaWorks.
The DU-540 heater/blower is included with the XC-540MT. Depending on the media, it is necessary to use the included DU-540 dryer/blower unit to ensure proper ink adhesion and to assist with dry times. the DU-540 is also recommended to be ON when printing with the metallic silver and white ink configuration. Roland recommends 15 minutes of drying time in order for the metallic silver or white ink to dry fully. This is important in print modes where CMYK is printed on top of white or metallic silver. Testing prior to beginning production is highly recommended.
| VersaWorks is powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers for the company’s inkjet technology. Built upon the genuine Adobe® PostScript® CPSI™ RIP engine, VersaWorks features an efficient graphical user interface that allows users to maximize their Roland inkjet without a lengthy learning curve.
VersaWorks is packed with features including Roland colour, Roland’s exclusive spot colour fidelity system, Variable Data Printing, and a wide variety of convenient layout, edit and print functions such as nesting, tiling and auto/manual-layout.
VersaWorks also offers the ability to preview jobs on screen, reducing ink and media consumption due to mistakes. Users can use two job queues for handling different print conditions and can automatically update VersaWorks through the Internet, ensuring that they always have the latest software version and Roland DGA ICC profiles available. VersaWorks is compatible with Windows 2000/XP operating systems. |

Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology developed by Roland software engineers represents the pinnacle of inkjet printing. This patent-pending system precisely controls dot placement between passes and delivers unprecedented imaging performance in all resolutions. The technology actually enhances image quality at higher print speeds thereby increasing productivity. As a result, the XC-540MT produces smooth gradations and flawless solid colors while achieving faster throughput with virtually no banding in all print modes.
Eco-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland ECO-SOL MAX ink, which is used by VersaCAMM® and SOLJET inkjets. It includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-backed vinyls and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper.
Roland also offers an additional 20 materials that optimize SOLJET and VersaCAMM® print quality. They include heat transfer material, backlit film, matte artist canvas and a high-quality matte paper in its SCM, PQM, PGM and PCM media line-ups.
Equipped with Roland’s own 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T interface, the XC-540MT connects seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.
ECO-SOL MAX boosts the performance of Roland’s SOLJET, VersaArt and VersaCAMM inkjets at low running costs that both you and your customers will appreciate.
For a low-density CMYK image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.16 per sqft. and an average media cost of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.46 per sqft. For a high-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.28 per sqft. and an average media cost* of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.58 per sqft.
As with all Roland inkjets, the XC-540MT offers years of reliable service, even in the most demanding shop environments. Each one is built with solid construction and enhancements for precise media control. It also features print head maintenance systems for unmatched mechanical reliability.
Roland’s international ISO certifications are your assurance of quality products and service. We build reliable, high-performance products and back them up with first-rate customer service and a wide variety of supplies and accessories
